After much speculation and grainy spy shots, BMW has released the first official photos of the new 2012 MINI Coupe.
According to a report from 4 Wheels News, the new MINI will "take the small car segment to another level."
The front of the car is classic MINI, but the most immediate difference is the "helmet roof" similar to the Audi TT. It is a two-seater with cargo space behind the seats.
The car is designed to optimize airflow at high speeds by utilizing a rear spoiler that automatically extends at 50 mph.
Several engines will be offered, include a turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine, as well as a diesel option.
Pricing starts at $21,300. BMW has not yet announced a launch date for the MINI Coupe.
