Rodney King, who was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool yesterday in Rialto, California, remains in the middle of a swirling controversy -- even in death.
King was found by his fiancee Cynthia Kelley at around 5:25 a.m. Kelley allegedly told friends that King been drinking and smoking marijuana, as reported by Opposing Views.
However, several neighbors living close by now say that some noise from King's home was "out-of character."
Sandra Gardea told the LA Times: "It just sounded like someone was really sad. There was a lot of moaning and crying."
Neighbor Bob Carlberg added: "(There was) yelling back and forth. I couldn't really make it out."
TMZ.com reports Kelley was woken by the sound of King yelling in the back yard and banging on glass windows. When Kelley asked what was wrong, King did not answer. Later, Kelley heard a splash and that's when she went out to check on King and found him in the pool. According to witnesses and friends, Kelley did not jump into the pool to save King because she "wasn't a good swimmer."
After Kelley called 911, police arrived to find King at the bottom of the pool. They dove into the pool, still wearing uniforms.
Police performed CPR, however, King was was pronounced dead at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center at 6.11am, according to the Daily Mail.
