Two French bulldogs have been returned to their owners after a FedEx driver stole them from the family’s front porch.
The dogs, Sheila and Bruno, were taken from the Correa family’s porch in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday when they went outside to use the bathroom. The entire incident was caught on the family’s home surveillance cameras, which was later posted by Erica Correa on Facebook.
“The grown-up just put them inside the truck, both of them,” Correa’s young daughter, Savannah Correa, said.
Later that day, the dogs were reportedly found wandering the street and brought to a local veterinary clinic. Staff at the clinic immediately recognized the puppies from local news reports.
“And so we called and said we think we have the dogs here,” Dr. John Gregory said.
The Correa family was reunited with Sheila and Bruno on Thursday, and couldn’t have been happier to see them. “We're just so happy,” Armanda Correa, the father of the family, said. “We feel like our family's complete again, really, because we couldn't go another night without these two.”
According to the New York Daily News, the driver was suspended following the incident. He was apparently not even making a delivery to the Correa house when he stole the puppies.
“We are relieved that the pets are now safe with their owners. We are taking this incident very seriously and continue to work closely with authorities investigating this matter,” FedEx said in a statement.
“To me he's a monster,” Erica Correa said of the man who stole two beloved members of her family. “My kids were here, if they would have seen him, how would my children have reacted?"
