After receiving a substantial tip, federal officials were led to two tons of marijuana and discovered an underground smuggling tunnel that connected Mexico to Arizona.
Reports say that federal officials alerted local police of a drug shipment moving through the small town of Bisbee, Arizona on Monday, and by that evening, local authorities and border patrol found 4,700 pounds of weed, valued at roughly $3 million, in the back of a truck.
As a result of finding the large amount of weed, federal agents were able to obtain a search warrant for a home in Naco, which sits on the border of Arizona and Mexico, and on Tuesday, an underground tunnel that connected the small town to Mexico was discovered.
Now, Mexican authorities are attempting to locate the other end of the tunnel, and so far, the driver of the truck and one other person have been arrested in connection to the operation. An investigation is still ongoing.
