Father Charged With Manslaughter After Passing Out Drunk On Top Of Baby Son

Cory N. Stucky, 30, admitted to drinking 24 beers and going to a bar before returning to his home and falling asleep on top of his 8-week-old son at their Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, home on July 18. The infant, Myles Stucky, died and now his father is facing second-degree manslaughter and child endangerment charges.

Stucky’s now ex-girlfriend and mother of the baby, Amy J. Solland, called for help when she discovered Myles face down on the couch under Stucky’s arm. An autopsy confirmed Myles died of asphyxiation, the Minneapolis StarTribune reported.

Solland said the charges “are not a thing of satisfaction with me. He’s got an alcohol problem. It’s a 12-year problem that led to the death of our child.” She added that she believes Stucky needs to sober up.

A friend told police that that Stucky was “tanked” the night his son died, although Stucky initially told police that he was simply a heavy sleeper, KARE reported.

Stucky has two other children who live with their mother in Iowa and Solland occasionally visits them. “It’s the only thing that makes me feel better,” she said.

After Myles died, community members raised $2,610 for his funeral with an online fundraiser. It’s unclear if Stucky has entered a plea.
