Mouse Head Discovered In Can Of Green Beans (Video)

An Oklahoma family received an unwelcome Easter surprise of the head of a dead mouse inside a can of green beans (video below).

Andrew and Chelsea Belflower of Midwest City, Oklahoma, bought eight cans of Best Choice fancy cut green beans when they went to Crest Foods supermarket on March 26, the day before Easter. The couple work as youth pastors and needed to prepare for an Easter potluck the following day.

"We started opening them and putting them in the Crock-Pot and by about the fourth can, something dumped out into the Crock-Pot, and my husband noticed it and said, 'What is that?'" Chelsea told KFOR.

The odd, dark object clearly did not belong in a can of vegetables.

"I just noticed there was something black in the green beans and was like that’s not normal," Andrew said. "So I picked it up and threw it. [It was a] mouse head!"

Both the head and a leg of a mouse were found in the can of green beans. The couple wondered where the rest of the mouse was.

"It could be in one of the other cans on my counter, it could be at Crest, it could be in someone’s pantry, it’s really kind of grotesque," Andrew said.

Online commenters were appalled at the possibility of a mouse making its way into a can of food.

"That's why i only eat fresh or frozen veggies,no cans,no surprises," wrote Natty I on the Daily Mail.

Chelsea informed the manager at the grocery store about the incident. She was told that she needed to notify Best Choice to discuss the matter, and the manager decided to take the remainder of the Best Choice green beans off the shelf.

No one from Best Choice was available to comment on Easter Sunday.

"I'm afraid there could be some bacteria or something in it, and if this has been in a batch, maybe the distribution center will want to test it," said Chelsea.

The couple decided to keep the remnants of the animal in case Best Choice needs to directly examine it.
