A family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was shocked to find the body of a man who died from a gunshot wound at their front doorstep.
The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, told Fox 6 News that she discovered the body on Sunday morning, literally on her family’s doorstep. “The dead body was right here — on the front steps,” she said. The man was unresponsive, and his head was at the bottom of the steps leading up to her home. The woman immediately called 911.
“They basically just wanted to know what was going on,” she said. “They wanted to know what happened and what position he was in.”
Police determined that the family didn’t know the victim, and had no idea where he came from or how he ended up at their home. “I didn’t hear anything last night,” the woman said.
The victim was determined to be a 33-year-old Milwaukee resident who was shot to death, though authorities have not yet released his identity. No arrests have been made so far in connection to the man’s death.
The incident was so traumatizing for the homeowner and her family that they’ve decided to move away.
“There’s nothing you can do but move. Children live [in this neighborhood]. I’ve never walked outside and seen a dead body — a gunshot victim sitting there in plain view. Never,” she said. “We have been so desensitized. My sister didn’t say, ‘Oh my God, there’s a dead body.’ She said, ‘It’s so much drama.'”
