A Texas woman was arrested for putting her 2-year-old daughter into the oven, causing the toddler to suffer serious burns.
Authorities were called to the Glen Rose, Texas, residence of Tasha Hatcher, 35, on the night of March 17. There were reports of a toddler being burned, according to WFAA. When they arrived, witnesses at the scene told them they saw the woman put her child into the oven.
The toddler, who suffered second and third degree burns, was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth before being airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
A neighbor who lives next door to Hatcher told WFAA that the woman was behaving strangely on the day of the incident.
The neighbor said he was mowing his lawn that day when he noticed loud music and Hatcher making strange gestures and signs.
"It was unusual," he said, adding that the woman and her child had always seemed "playful" together.
Hatcher has been arrested and charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony, according to the Daily Mail. She is being held on $300,000 bond.
Child Protective Services has taken custody of the girl, who is currently in stable condition, and will place her in foster care when she is well enough to leave the hospital.
Hatcher, a single mother, currently works at Quality Inn and Suites and StoneWater Church in Glen Rose, the Daily Mail reported.
