A man was recently found guilty of animal abuse charges after his neighbor caught him on camera brutally beating a puppy.
Liam Backhouse, 23, was filmed by a neighbor throwing the 2-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier against a concrete slab and kicking him repeatedly for about an hour in his garden, Metro reports.
A court was told that a neighbor saw Backhouse hurl the puppy with such force that the small animal “bounced” off the hard surface.
The puppy called Dudley, can be seen in the graphic video with his head trapped in a door.
“The police arrived moments before I did and one of the officers had the puppy, who was shaking wildly, in their arms,” Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigator Will Lamping said.
“The footage is shocking to watch. The puppy tries to get away from Backhouse but he keeps picking him up roughly and throwing him to the ground.
“At one point he traps the puppy’s head in the back door and repeatedly closes the door on him. The dog keeps crying out, it’s very distressing.”
Karen Templeton, Backhouse's lawyer, told the Court that Backhouse suffers from severe depression and “hated himself” for what he did.
According to the Daily Mail, Templeton said Backhouse became angry when the dog defecated on his carpet, and he stepped in it.
Backhouse was sentenced to 80 days in jail on Tuesday and given a 7-year pets ban after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the puppy.
ITV News reported that Backhouse also pleaded guilty to blunt force trauma and rough handling.

Dudley, who has since been adopted by an RSPCA inspector, was left “badly shaken and bruised.”
“The future looks very bright for Dudley,” inspector Lamping adds. “He’s in a loving home where he’s settled and happy. I’m so pleased that he will now be able to stay there.”
