An elderly French man claims he shot his son because he mistook him for a blackbird trying to raid his cherry tree.
The man, in his 70s, shot his 46-year-old son three times with a shotgun late Saturday night after he heard rustling in his Fouesnant garden, police said.
His son said he was climbing the tree to get some fruit.
