An unidentified elderly driver lost control of his car, drove into a park, hit a bench, smashed into the cement edge of a fountain pool, went airborne over some water and landed his car upside down on top of the fountain.
Witnesses thought at first a movie was being filmed in the Pittsburgh park, but then realized this was a real accident (video below).
Fortunately for the driver, one witness to yesterday's crash was Dr. Sarah Hagerty.
She lifted the elderly driver’s head out of the water and tried to keep him calm.
“He was able to tell me his name, but he didn’t know what was going on. I just tried to calm him down and told him not to move,” Dr. Hagerty told CBS Pittsburgh.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but there is no word yet on his condition.
Police believe the senior may have had some kind of medical problem.
The incident actually began two blocks earlier when the elderly man hit another car, but just kept going, which meant driving into the park, and, seconds later, the fountain.
“If there was a good place to land when you hit this wall, right on top of that fountain is where to hit,” said Pittsburgh Police Officer Mike Pilyih.
