An unidentified off-duty Chicago police officer allegedly fired his gun at another off-duty cop who pulled him over on suspicion of being drunk while driving.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon near the Chicago Police Department’s Morgan Park District station, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The 52-year-old officer was charged with a DUI misdemeanor and stripped of his arrest powers.
“If the allegations are true, the actions and behavior demonstrated by this officer are beyond unacceptable, have absolutely no place in our department and he will be separated from CPD,” the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.
The off-duty Chicago cop was driving his own car when he was pulled over by the second off-duty officer who showed him his badge.
According to CBS Chicago, the off-duty cop suddenly drove away and was pursued by the second officer who stopped him again.
This time, the off-duty cop allegedly got out of his car, walked towards the second officer's car and fired his gun.
