Dunkin' Donuts Worker Applies '5 Second Rule' (Video)


A Massachusetts Dunkin' Donuts employee was caught on camera implementing the five-second rule" on a tray of donuts she had inadvertently spilled (video below).

The coffee and donut chain’s branch in Mendon is under fire after the incident. Former employees are now speaking out about what happened last November.

The footage shows a female supervisor wearing a blue shirt as she accidentally drops a tray of donuts on the ground before the store opens.

She pauses and looks around for a moment and walks away. Then, the clip fast forwards to show the same worker putting the fallen pastries back on the tray and into the case as if nothing had happened.

The footage appears to be a mobile phone recording of a surveillance tape.

A former employee, who goes by 'Liam,' verified that the donuts were sold to patrons when the Dunkin’ Donuts was opened, WMUR reports.

The footage has been viewed on Facebook more than 56,000 times. Although some online users questioned its validity and allege that it was edited, Dunkin’ Donuts officials did not disagree with the legitimacy of the video.

Liam told WMUR that his shifts were removed from the schedule after three years of working at the fast food chain. Subsequently, after being terminated from the store, he leaked the video.

"People are eating food that went to the ground, to the counter, and then putting it into their mouth," Liam told WMUR. "That's a problem."

According to The Consumerist, when asked for comment, Dunkin’ Donuts had this to say:

We are aware of the video and take matters like this very seriously. The actions seen in the video at a franchised Dunkin' Donuts restaurant are absolutely inconsistent with our strict food safety standards and requirements. According to the franchisee, upon hearing of this incident in November 2015, [the owner] investigated the matter and met with the employee to discuss the fact that the donuts should have been immediately disposed of in keeping with our standards.
