Footage of a drunk 9-year-old in a skate park has surfaced online. It shows the boy admitting to smoking marijuana and drinking 18 cans of whiskey and soda.
The young boy is first seen leaning on a wall holding seven percent strong bourbon before collapsing on the ground.
The interviewer asks the boy what he is doing drinking when a girl interrupts, saying the boy is allowed to do so and has been given the drink by his aunt.
The boy staggers around, slurring his speech as the interviewer asks how many cans he has drunk that day. The boy says, “18.” He later admits to smoking marijuana.
When the interviewer points out that his aunt could go to jail for giving him alcohol, the boy begs him not to tell the police.
A teenager who claims to be the boy’s brother is also at the scene, and claims it is alright and that he too was drinking at the age of nine.
The Daily Mail reports that when the police arrived at the scene, the boy had left but they found out where he lived and spoke with his “distraught” mother.
When they located the boy Tuesday night, authorities found him “grossly intoxicated,” according to Inspector Greg Nichols.
“The young boy was very ill … so much that calling an ambulance was considered,” Nichols said, according to the Toronto Sun.
“I see the drunken activities of adults who one would think could make good decisions in life,” a police spokesperson said. “But to have a vulnerable young boy consuming alcohol is very appalling.”
The boy’s father, who has not been named, reportedly said he had separated from the mother and has little contact with his son.
“My heart is ripping out at the moment, I’m trying to hold it together,” he said. “It’s hard.”
