A driver, who was high on meth, was caught on dashcam video as he dragged a Missouri state trooper alongside his car for several yards before the trooper shot him twice.
Alan G. Hampton, 42, was originally pulled over for a speeding violation in July 2012. Suddenly, Hampton sped away and Missouri Highway Patrol Corporal Cody Dunfee dove into the car.
“You shot me? You shot me! … Oh my God,” says Hampton on the video
Hampton was convicted of resisting arrest, possessing a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Wednesday.
The video from the dashcam was shown in court.
“As I approached the car, I noticed what appeared to be a black square object in his waistband,” Dunfee said, according to KSHB-TV. “I kind of figured that he was trying to hide something in the car. I didn’t know what it was at the time.”
"It happened so quick and to this day I still don't know why I more or less dove into that car," he added.
Dunfee shot Hampton once in the hand and once in the leg, before Hampton stopped the vehicle.
“You shot me,” Hampton says on video. “I’m going to bleed to death. Help! Ah! I’m blacking out, man.”
Hampton also possessed a loaded firearm.
