Robbed Doughnut Store Owner Gets Surprise From Girl (Photo)

A young girl in Alvin, Texas, took it upon herself to pay back money that was stolen from a doughnut shop’s tip jar.

On Nov. 10, security video captured a woman in line at Daylight Donuts allegedly steal from the tip jar. Store owner Andy Chhong shared the footage to Facebook; it has since been viewed more than 100,000 times and shared more than 2,300 times.

In the video, a woman can be seen walking up to the counter where the cash register is located. She pauses for a few seconds, leans against the counter as she looks around and then puts her hand in the tip jar, allegedly withdrawing cash. The woman places the cash in her pocket and then leaves the store with two other people.

Chloe Gallegos's mother showed her the video, and it prompted Chloe to leave Chhong a special note and more, KTRK reports.

"Dear Donut Man," the note reads. "My mom showed me the video of your money getting stolen. I'm sorry that happened. This is my tooth fairy money."

The young girl signed the note, “Sorry that happened, Chloe.”

The amount of tooth fairy money Chloe left was $4.

After speaking with several customers, Chhong discovered who Chloe is.

"She felt bad about what happened," Chhong said. "And it's just so amazing."

“Because I felt really bad for him for getting his money stolen, I took my tooth fairy money and…whenever no one was looking we put it in the tip jar,” Chloe told KTRK.

It wasn’t until two days later that her mother Roxanne Cueller found out what she had done.

“We try to teach her right from wrong, and you know I’m just glad that it’s sticking,” Roxanne said. “I mean, she took it upon herself to you know, try to make somebody else’s wrong right.”

Chhong plans to pay it forward to Chloe, as she did for him -- with free doughnuts for life as long as he owns the store.

"She's such an amazing kid," he said. "People need to ... follow this kind of attitude."

Whether the woman who allegedly stole from the tip jar has been identified is unknown at this time.
