Taiwan residents are flocking to a McDonald's after photos of one of its employees went viral.
A "doll-faced" cashier, Wei Han Xu, has been working part time behind the counter at McDonald's for five years, according to the Shanghaiist. The employee is also a college student who has garnered an impressive following on Instagram.
In 2013, a blogger known as RainDog took Xu’s picture after he ordered a Big Mac and uploaded the photo to his blog, calling her the “cutest McDonald’s goddess in Taiwanese history." The post quickly went viral and she later earned the nickname WeiWei, which means “dolphin” in Chinese.
Following her rise to internet stardom, Xu was featured on Food World News and in the Daily Mirror. She became especially well-known for her tight-fitting uniform and heels, a tradition among many Taiwanese waitresses. Some waitresses in Taiwan have even been known to dress as sailors and maids.
“McDonald’s in Taiwan has a glorious track record when it comes to cute girls since their staff started cosplaying ... since 2013,” Rocket News wrote.
Since Xu’s photos went viral, many have reportedly tracked down the waitress and visited the restaurant just to get a closer look. Because many of them have not actually purchased food, the manager isn’t too happy, Inquisitr reports.
