Dogs Make Out With Owners at 9th Annual Valentine's Day Canine Kissing Contest (Video)

A 12-year-old Yorkie and dachshund mix named Beau won the Ninth Annual Valentine's Day Canine Kissing Contest on Tuesday night. What is the Valentine's Day Canine Kissing Contest? Exactly what it sounds like. A competition where dog owners lock lips with their pups in an effort to see whose love is the truest.

Beau ‘won’ the contest by making out with its owner for nearly 46 seconds. Unfortunately this year’s record doesn’t hold a candle to the 2012 mark. According to The Daily Mail, last year’s winner managed to keep the tongue hockey going for 'upwards of one minute and some seconds.’

Sunny, a Staffordshire terrier, finished in second place with a time of 16.8 seconds.

“It gets very competitive,” one owner told TDM. “Some of our dogs and owners actually train for this every year so they want to come out and have the longest kiss and we time every kiss.”

According to The Bangor Daily, Beau and its owner got a $75 gift certificate to a dog store for their big win.
