A 72-year-old Wisconsin man was injured on Jan. 2 after he shot a deer with an arrow and it then attacked him.
The man was hunting with a crossbow in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, when he wounded the doe. When he went to track the animal, it attacked him with the arrow still in its neck.
“Apparently the man was going through some thick brush and the deer leaped out and went after him,” Sheriff’s Officer Jeff Bonack said. “The doe struck him in the leg with her head.”
Bonack added that the man had been hunting with family members and that the deer probably got away.
The man was transported to St. Agnes Hospital by Mount Calvary Ambulance and arrived around 7:30 p.m. The man’s condition is currently unknown.
