It looks like the furor over California's Prop 8 won't be subsiding anytime soon. On December 10, activists encouraged people across the country to "call in gay" as part of a nationwide boycott called A Day Without A Gay. Instead of going to work, participants were asked to volunteer their time working on gay rights issues. And those who couldn't miss work were urged not to purchase anything. Activists hope this boycott will draw attention to just how widespread support for gay marriage is, but criticism of the plan has been intense, especially considering our current economic condition.
