Denver Bans Medical Marijuana Signage

In Denver, Colorado, the city council voted to ban all outdoor signage for medical marijuana. Apparently, many citizens were upset about medical marijuana ads on sidewalks, billboards, flyers on cars and handouts, reports the Denver Post.

Surprisingly, the Medical Marijuana Industry Group supported the ban. Executive director Mike Elliott told the Denver Post: “We believe it finds the right balance between protecting the interests of both the city and the medical-marijuana community."

The city council said that the ban would not affect events such as political rallies promoting marijuana legalization, which the state will be voting on this November.

However, the Cannabis Business Alliance and Association of Cannabis Trades for Colorado opposed the ban in a statement on their web site: “Unfortunately, because of a handful of business owners using aggressive tactics, the entire industry in Denver has to deal with the consequences."
