Former Playboy Playmate of the Year Dani Mathers may face criminal charges for posting a photo of a naked woman in a gym locker room on social media.
Mathers took the photo at an L.A. Fitness without permission, and then shared it on Snapchat with a body shaming comment, Maxim reports.
“If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either,” Mathers captioned the image.
The image has since been deleted, as have Mathers’ Instagram and Twitter accounts.
After heavy criticism, Mathers issued a public apology for the body-shaming image and comment.
"This is not the type of person I am," she said. "I do what I do for a living because I love the female body and I know that body shaming is wrong, and that's not what I'm about."
The apology did not help Mathers keep her job as a host on the KLOS 95.5 “Heidi and Frank” show. She has been suspended from the show.
Mathers also may face criminal charges for sharing the image.
L.A. Fitness filed a report with police on July 15 accusing Mathers of egregiously violating a member’s right of privacy by taking the photo and then humiliating her by posting it online, TMZ reports.
The police investigation is based on a criminal law prohibiting the dissemination of private images.
The woman in the photo has not come forward, and she is listed as Jane Doe on the police report.
If charges are brought against Mathers, she could face six months in jail.
L.A. Fitness has banned her from all of their locations, according to Maxim.
