A Texas dad has become an internet sensation after his remarkable cover of a popular country song went viral online (video below).

Kris Jones of Alvarado has racked up over 31 million views on YouTube after he covered "Tennessee Whiskey," a song originally by George Jones and recently covered by Chris Stapleton, according to See It Live.

In the clip, posted on Jan. 2, Jones is seen sitting in a car parked outside of a Home Depot with his 15-year-old daughter, Dayla, and singing the country classic.

Jones, 38, who works as a contractor, later explained his experience with singing in a Facebook Live video, Dallas News reports.

"I wanted to sing for a really, really long time," said Jones. "When I was younger, I sang in the church. I always wanted to sing, but just never really got the right opportunities to do so. So then I got a job. And I had kids, and I went to work. And that's what I've been doing."

Jones has reportedly tried out for NBC's "The Voice" previously, but did not get to be on the show. He is reported to be planning on auditioning for the show's next season.

Commenters online gushed over his performance, and noted how proud Dayla appeared to be of her dad.

"Dude, you crushed that song IN YOUR TRUCK!! Amazing!!" wrote one user on YouTube. "Thank you for sharing it with all of us.  When you sound better than CMA artist of the year and Justin Timberlake doing the same song you have real talent. As great as you sang the pride on your daughters face has gotta bring you even more joy. You rock bro!! Good luck and thanks again. "

"My son sent this song to me, I instantly fell in love with it," wrote another commenter. "When I saw this video I instantly fell in love with the both of them. Nothing like that 'Daddy/Daughter Bond!!'"

"Priceless, how the daughter is so proud of her father," added another. "More dads need to spend time with there children like this."

Jones has gone on to cover a number of other songs on YouTube, including "Blue Ain't Your Color" by Keith Urban, "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, and "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Jones' cover of "Tennessee Whiskey" reached millions online, and even led to an appearance on Ellen Degeneres' show, "Ellen."

On Jan. 19, Jones and Dayla sat down with Degeneres to talk about his cover's viral success, according to Taste of Country.

The interview revealed that the viral video was the first time Dayla had recorded her dad singing, and that she had to convince him to go through with it.

Jones performed the song on "Ellen" before Degeneres surprised him with a $10,000 check to help him follow his passion for singing.
