Dad Who Shook Baby So Hard It Left Her Brain Damaged Gets Seven Years In Jail (Video)

A 22-year-old Maine man has been sentenced to seven years behind bars for shaking his six-month-old daughter out of frustration and ultimately causing her to be a quadriplegic.

Kevin Peaslee of Augusta, Maine was sentenced to seven years in prison for the December 21 incident that left his then-six-month-old daughter severely disabled for life. Aleah Peaslee is now a quadriplegic, severely brain damaged, and is unable to see or hear anything. Kevin Peaslee told a court that on the day he shook his daughter too hard, he was frustrated by her fussiness that was brought on by shots she got the day prior.

“It was a horrible mistake that I can’t change no matter how much I wish I could,” Peaslee said. “I’m not a violent person. I was frustrated that day. She just had shots the day before, and they always make her extra fussy.”

Kennebec County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney says that she hopes this case will teach a lesson to other parents that acting out of frustration can have devastating consequences.

“I hope that it causes other parents, when they feel frustration ... to call for help or place your child in a safe place and leave the room until you cool off,” said Maloney.

Aleah Peaslee is currently only able to be fed from a feeding tube, and reports say that she will likely die prematurely due to the severe brain damage she suffered from the violent shaking incident.
