Dad Punishes Son By Selling His Car On Craigslist

A Jacksonville, Florida, father has won a lot of support online following his decision to punish his son by selling his SUV on craigslist.

Allan Gieger, Jr. was increasingly worried about the behavior of his 18-year-old son, also called Allan, media reports say.

“I have my son’s truck up for sale that I bought for him as his first car,” Gieger, Jr. wrote in the Craigslist ad, according to “He thinks it’s cool to drive around with his friends smokin dope and acting all thug and especially not showing me and my wife the respect that we deserve.”

Gieger decided to post the ad after Allan III walked away from his job. At first, the teenager told his parents he had been fired for no reason but his boss later called to say what happened.

The morning after he posted the ad, Gieger woke up to 60 messages in response.

“You’ve gone viral, my man,” one of his friends wrote, after the ad was shared widely.

“Texas, Tennessee, just all over the place, telling me, ‘I’m not interested in your truck. I just want to tell you you’ve got Texas' support and everyone supporting you with your decisions,’” Gieger told WJXT.

Allan III sat down with his father after the post went viral and they talked.

“I’m just kind of a hard head and it never really clicked in until now,” Allan III told

“The way I feel toward my dad,” he added, “me and him, we’ve always had a good relationship, a good connection.”

But Gieger is determined to press ahead with the sale. He even offered a discount.

“I had it for $1,500, and I’ll take $250 off if someone from the Westside did buy it, just so he could see it every now and then when he’s walking when he’s with his friends,” he added, according to WJXT.

“Got the last little bit of roach that I guess him and his buddies were smoking. Whoever gets this thing has definitely got to clean it out,” Gieger added.

A deposit has already been put down by a local resident for the truck, and Gieger says he has several backup offers if that one falls through.
