A 29-year-old Arizona man has been left to take care of his newborn quadruplets after his wife tragically died during childbirth on Jan. 15.
Carlos Morales of Phoenix is currently raising quadruplets on his own after his 36-year-old wife Erica died during childbirth. The babies were reportedly delivered through a C-section at seven months, but sadly, Erica went into hypovolemic shock and passed away just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 16.
“We were so excited to start our family,” Carlos Morales, 29, said. “And then it all came crashing down.”
Reports say that all four babies, three girls and one boy, were delivered safely and are in good condition, but the loss of his beloved wife along with the realization that he’d be raising the four babies on his own is taking an emotional toll.
“I went from having the best day of my life to the next morning experiencing the worst day of my life,” Morales said. “My four babies came into the world and then my wife died.”
Two of the babies are reportedly now home while the other two are still in the hospital, and despite being left to care for the children on his own, his family and friends have pledged to support him no matter what. Nicole Todman, a good friend, has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money to support Morales.
“Everything I do now is for my children,” Morales said. “Our family and friends have been very supportive too.”
So far, the GoFundMe page has raised close to $250,000.
“When I'm alone at home I still tell myself that I hope I'm dreaming,” Morales admitted. “Erica was the most special person in the world and she should be here to love her babies.”
