Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. is in hot water for his behavior on the "American Horror Story" panel at PaleyFest in Los Angeles (video below).
On March 26 the cast of the hit FX series got together on stage to discuss the show's sixth season. The cast members emerged one at a time. As Kathy Bates walked out, co-star Sarah Paulson stood up to greet her.
While Bates and Paulson were embracing one another, Gooding got up from his chair and lifted the hem of Paulson's purple dress, exposing her leg and the slit in the skirt of the dress. When Paulson realized what was happening she gave a shriek and pulled her dress away.
While Paulson did not appear offended, it didn't take long for people on social media to condemn Gooding for his actions.
"Cuba Gooding Jr. has just embarrassed himself at [American Horror Story] Paleyfest," one person wrote on Twitter, reports USA Today. "This is junior high behavior. Leave the woman alone."
"Did you apologize to Sarah?" another tweeted at the actor. "You should if you didn't [because] what you did was Gross and Disrespectful."
"How would [Cuba Gooding Jr.] react if a man walked up to his daughter Piper, and lifted her dress up behind her back?" asked another Twitter user, according to Fox News.
"What happened to Sarah Paulson yesterday at [PaleyFest] was so disrespectful and definitely not OK or funny," someone else wrote.
TV Guide reports that the cast of "American Horror Story: Roanoke" was in good humor throughout the panel. The mood was jocular, with the actors showing off the humorous side of their relationship.
"Shut your f***ing cake hole," Paulson told Bates at one point.
Later Bates shot back with: "Oh, go f*** yourself."
When Gooding mentioned that Paulson suffered from heatstroke on set, Bates made light of the revelation.
"You had heatstroke? I'm so glad," she said. "I thought it was because I was old and fat. You had it in Malibu!"
"I hate you," Paulson countered. "Where are we going to dinner after this?"
This isn't the first time Gooding's behavior has caused a stir. In December 2016, he gave an expletive-laced speech at the Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York, according to Page Six.
"Nothing says I love you like f***ing sugar," he said as he presented the Social Impact Award to designer John Varvatos. "F***ing boxed lunched. I’m drunk now, motherf***er. Deal with it."
