Criminal Charges Filed After High School Football Player Uses Helmet to Beat Opposing Team's Player (Video)

Police in South Annville Township, Pa. have filed charges related to a bizarre incident in which a Hamburg High School football player took off an Annville-Cleona player's helmet and beat him with his own gear.

According to the Lebanon Daily News, South Annville Police Chief Ben Sutcliffe said in a statement that simple assault and disorderly conduct charges had been filed, but wouldn't say against who "due to juvenile issues."

During the Sept. 6 incident, Hamburg player Joseph Cominsky took the helmet off Annville-Cleona's Josh Hartman.

In a video (below) broadcast by WGAL and in a video (below) shot by a fan in the bleachers, Cominsky appears to be swinging the helmet at Hartman and hitting him in the head at least once.

After laying on the ground for a few seconds, Hartman got up and walked off the field with a laceration to his head.

Hartman later returned to the game, but Cominsky was ejected.

Annville-Cleona's Taylor Prentice was also ejected for reportedly throwing several punches after the incident.
