Georgia Burger King Employee Arrested For Selling Meth In Drive-Thru Window

A 20-year-old Burger King employee in Ellijay, Georgia, was arrested for dealing meth at the drive-thru window of a Burger King establishment. Courtney Margalo was arrested in March by the Zell Miller Mountain Drug Task Force.

Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office Captain Frank Copeland said, “At certain times I guess when she was at work, she would actually sell the meth through the drive through window.”

An extended investigation also showed that Margalo used meth in the Burger King parking lot while on the clock. The manager who was on duty during her shifts was fired.

Fox News reported that agents arrested Margalo after they caught her with prescription pills.

“They had a K9 come out do a sniff of her car that resulted in a search of the vehicle which produced a quantity of meth,” Copeland added.

Margalo was brought to the Gilmer County Detention center. She was charged with possession and intent to distribute meth. Her mother, Cindy Slinkard, bailed Margalo out of jail.

However, when approached by Fox News, Slinkard did not comment. “I can't say anything per her lawyer.”

Though she did add, “She's a very shy, quiet kid, so it's been really hard on her.”

According to the sheriff’s office, Margalo was already on probation for marijuana and meth possession.

While Margalo most likely faces jail time, some Ellijay residents did not feel so strongly about sending her to jail. One resident told Fox News, “The case of a 20-year-old, I mean that's just really sad, that her life could be thrown away over this.”

According to KFVS, a Missouri man was arrested for a similar crime in 2009. The store manager of a Sonic was arrested for burglary and attempting to cook meth in the kitchen of the restaurant while it was closed.
