An Ohio couple has been arrested after evidence emerged that they abused and tortured their 2-year-old daughter to death.
Andrea Bradley, 28, and Glen Bates, 32, were indicted on charges of murder and child endangerment after their daughter Glenara Bates died.
The prosecutor Joe Deters said that they might face the death penalty if they are convicted of all charges, according to the Daily Mail.
Allegedly, the child had been beaten and tortured, with bruises and bite marks on her body. She also had several injuries to her head including broken teeth.
In total, her body had over 100 wounds, according to the news site.
She was taken to the hospital on March 29 where she was declared dead. She was drastically underweight at the time at her death at 13 lbs, which is the average weight of a 3- or 4-month-old infant, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Kode Sammarco said that it was "the worst case of starvation she's ever witnessed in her career," the Daily Mail reports.
"There is no doubt in my mind this child was tortured for the majority of her pitifully short life," she added.
Deters addressed the injuries inflicted upon the child.
"The abuse this baby suffered is beyond belief," he said. "If they get executed, God bless them. I'd like to see it."
Deters also said that the child spent her final days in a bathtub filled with feces and blood.
"You wouldn't treat your dog like this," he said.
Bradley has seven other children, all under the age of 10. None of the other children showed signs of abuse.
Five of the children had been living with Bradley when Glenara was taken by child services after being diagnosed with malnutrition. She was returned to the family mere weeks before she died.
Bradley is expecting an eighth child soon.
The couple has since been arrested.
