Country singer Luke Bryan is reportedly taking in his 13-year-old nephew following the death of the boy’s father, Luke’s brother-in-law, late last year.
Ben Lee Cheshire, Luke Bryan’s brother-in-law, died unexpectedly in November, and now, the singer and wife Caroline are bringing 13-year-old Til to Nashville to live with them. Cheshire was married to Bryan’s late sister Kelly, who passed away in 2007. Now that both of Til’s parents are gone, Bryan and his wife have made the decision to take the teen into their home.
“We feel like if we just stay positive through this, maybe we'll be a positive inspiration for people that had these things happen to 'em,” Bryan told ABC News. “You just have to plow on and play the hand that's dealt.”
Til’s two older sisters have come to visit their brother since their father’s death in November, and while having this new responsibility may seem like a lot for the busy country singer, Bryan says he deals with it as best he can.
“You know, we just stay positive. I think people expect that from me,” Bryan said. “I have to pray that people that have had similar situations can maybe look at my family and see me positively dealing with it. I'm not saying it's easy.”
Bryan says he is grateful to be able to fly Til’s sisters to Nashville to visit their brother whenever they need to, and while he and his wife may be exhausted from the new challenge they’ve taken on, he says they are trying to remain positive.
Bryan has been through his share of adversity, starting with the loss of his brother in the mid-‘90s and followed by his sister’s untimely death in 2007.
