Cops: Woman Bit Off Part Of Walmart Employee's Finger After Scuffle Over Stolen Items

A South Carolina woman allegedly bit off part of a security guard's finger after she was caught trying to steal condoms, lube and panties from a Myrtle Beach Walmart.

Carolynn Wright, 23, was leaving the Walmart store on Jan. 10 when she was confronted by a pair of loss prevention officers who "observed her conceal merchandise," according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

When the employees, who are both female, tried to prevent Wright from leaving, the South Carolina woman fought back, punching one of the women in the head and biting down on the other woman's finger until part of it was severed, the police report said. Wright allegedly assaulted a third person, a customer who tried to dial 911 on her cellphone during the fight. When the woman dropped her phone mid-dial, Wright grabbed it and wouldn't give it back. Later, she reportedly pulled the shopper's hair, and the shopper retaliated by punching Wright in the face.

Paramedics brought the injured Walmart employee to a local hospital, but her partially severed finger could not be reattached.

After fending off the two loss prevention officers and the customer who tried to dial 911, Wright tried to escape, hopping into an idling car that was waiting for her. She told the driver, a 71-year-old man who had driven her to the store, to hit the gas despite the fact that another person was standing in front of the car and blocking its exit, the police report noted.

Wright was charged with felony aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanors for simple assault and larceny. She was sent to jail without the option to post bail and awaits a court hearing next week.

It's the second time Wright has made headlines for violent behavior -- in 2014, the then-22-year-old pleaded guilty to attacking a fellow dancer and striking her with a stiletto at a Myrtle Beach Strip Club, the Daily Mail reported. That attack followed earlier 2014 convictions for assault and disorderly conduct.
