A Tennessee man earned himself a trip to the hospital and an arrest after allegedly assaulting a woman who fought back and shot him.
Kevin Lamar Wilson, 29, was arguing with the mother of his children at their Chattanooga, Tennessee, home on Dec. 10 when he began to punch, kick and strangle her, Tennessee's Times Free Press reported. The woman then grabbed a gun and shot Wilson once in the arm, police said.
Police arrived at 1:09 p.m. after a 911 call alerted them to the fight. By that time Wilson was already gone, having driven himself to the hospital to seek treatment for the gunshot wound. That's where police caught up with him, and they arrested him after he was treated for his injury.
The woman, who reportedly showed visible signs of an assault, was not charged.
It's not clear how the woman obtained a firearm, or who owned the gun. Police did not release details of the criminal charge against Wilson. The Times Free Press reports Wilson was booked in Hamilton County Jail, but Wilson was no longer jailed as of Dec. 15, according to jail records.
