Cop Pleads Not Guilty After Shooting Homeless, Unarmed Veteran (Video)

Police Officer Jody LeDoux pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a charge of negligent homicide.

Officer LeDoux fatally shot Raymond Martinez in the parking lot of a convenience store in West Monroe, Louisiana, back on Dec. 4, 2014.

Surveillance video (below) of the shooting was released this week by prosecutors, noted KNOE.

The video shows Officer LeDoux rushing up to Martinez with his gun drawn, and shooting the homeless veteran.

The owner of the convenience store owner claimed that he wouldn't allow Martinez inside because the vet was drunk. The owner called the police because Martinez wouldn't leave the premises, reports TheNewsStar.com.

Several residents claim that Martinez was often seen standing in front of the convenience store.

"He is a homeless guy that wouldn't harm a fly," resident John McDaniels told KTVE.

"He said when he wasn't drinking he had to remember and he didn't want to remember. He never bothered anybody," added an unidentified resident.

West Monroe Police Chief Jeff Terrell countered, "It's a dangerous world out there, and we are just happy the officer is safe."
