Police Officer Waits In The Freezing Cold With Lost Dogs (Photo)

A Kansas City police officer was captured on camera sitting on the side of a road with two lost, freezing dogs as he waited for backup to arrive.

The officer, who remains anonymous, was called a hero once a photo of him waiting in a cold, grassy area with the lost dogs went viral. The dogs reportedly escaped from their home and were found freezing on the side of the road by the officer. Instead of calling it in and continuing on with his day, the officer sits on the grass and waits with them for backup.

“As I pull up, it’s a motorcycle cop sitting in the cold grass with two stray — or what appears to be stray dogs, just sitting there petting them,” Debbie Davis, the witness who snapped the viral photo, told Fox4KC. “It’s over and above for anyone. It’s cold. Most people wouldn’t look twice at some dogs running around.”

The dogs were eventually brought to KC Pet Project, and not long after, their owners Ashley and Austin Mozingo came to get them back.

“I think that’s an awesome story,” Austin Mozingo said at the time. “It’s good to know there are still police officers out there who still enjoy helping out the community, especially in helping out such sweet dogs.”
