Controversial Comic Joan Rivers Goes Off About Israel/Palestine Conflict (Video)

Joan Rivers has made a career for herself as a comedienne who doesn’t shy away from controversy, and her most recent comments defending Israel amidst the conflict in the region are no exception.

Rivers ranted to TMZ reporters on Friday, defending the actions of Israel against Palestine and criticizing the mainstream media for what she seems to believe is a bias.

“Let me just tell you, if New Jersey were firing rockets into New York, we would wipe them out,” Rivers said to TMZ. “[If] we heard they were digging tunnels from New Jersey to New York, we would get rid of Jersey, so I don’t want to hear anymore, ‘Oh, we’ll do a partial truce,’ and Palestinians, you cannot throw rockets and expect people not to defend themselves.”

When the reporter asked Rivers about the Palestinian civilian casualties in Gaza, which as of today surpassed 1,000, Rivers made no apologies.

“Then don’t put your goddamn things in private homes!” said Rivers of reports that Hamas militants fired rockets from Palestinian homes. “I’m sorry, don’t you dare put weapons stashes in private homes and then we say ‘get out,’ of course we’re gonna do it!”

Rivers went on to say that she doesn’t care where the innocent Palestinians who lost their homes go and blamed them for the violence.

“I don’t care, they started it!” said Rivers. “You’re all insane, they started it! What are you all saying? They started it. The Israelis did not throw their — for months, this has been going on. What are you supposed to do? How do I know? Because I’ve been over there, that’s how I know. And I wish the world would know. And BBC should be ashamed of themselves and CNN should be ashamed of themselves, and everybody stop it already!”

Rivers also blasted teen pop icon Selena Gomez for her recent tweets in support of Palestine.

“Selena Gomez, oh yeah, that college grad,” Rivers said. “Let’s see if she can spell Palestinian.”
