Conservative Dan Joseph Pretends to be Transgender, Asks to Use Women's Bathroom (Video)

California Governor Jerry Brown signed a law on August 12 that allows public school students, grades K-12, to use school bathrooms and play on teams based on their self-identified gender identity, not biological identity.

Dan Joseph, of the conservative Media Research Center (MRC), recently interviewed college students on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia about the new law (video below), notes

During his interviews, Joseph strongly pushed the problem of boys pretending to be transgender in order to get into girls' bathrooms and locker rooms. "I mean, that’s what I would do," says Joseph.

The students gave thoughtful answers, some expressed some discomfort, but many were understanding about transgender children.

In the video (below) at the 2:30 mark, Joseph asks a woman outside a women's restroom if she would mind if he went in with her because he is a “transgender.” Joseph uses a lisping, stereotypical voice of a homosexual while making his fake request.

The camera is placed several feet away and the woman does not appear to know that she is being filmed.

Joseph asks the unsuspecting woman: “That means I have the man parts but inside I feel more like a woman. I was just wondering, is it okay if I go in there with you in there and change and shower and stuff? Just because I don’t really feel, like, comfortable in the men’s area. It’s just weird. Is that okay with you?”

In response, National Center for Transgender Equality executive director Mara Keisling told “That video is just a hateful embarrassment. The people at MRC] know that there are real trans people. They know we’re not talking about boys who want to pretend that they’re girls or girls who want to pretend they’re boys. They know we’re talking about people who have a gender identity that want to safely use the restroom in a way which is the least disruptive,"
