Speaking at the “Defending the American Dream Summit” this weekend, conservative activist David Horowitz said the GOP is afraid to confront or hold President Barack Obama to a standard because “his skin is black.”
Hopeful Republican presidential contenders Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas; Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La.; and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, also spoke at the event, which was held by the Koch-backed think tank Americans for Prosperity.
Horowitz, the author of “Hating Whitey: and Other Progressive Causes,” and “Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left,” called Obama “the most brazen and compulsive liar to ever occupy the White House,” according to ThinkProgress.
Speaking to the crowd, Horowitz was critical of the president’s foreign policy, especially in the Middle East.
“This is a leader who just doesn’t care. That’s how he was able to leave four brave Americans to die in Benghazi. He just doesn’t care,” he said.
He said the GOP is afraid to attack Obama’s character because he is a minority.
“No one will say it out loud. I will: It’s because the color of his skin is black,” Horowitz told the summit on Friday. “It is because Obama is a minority that nobody will hold him to a standard or confront him with what he has done.”
Horowitz believes liberals only disparage racism because their Democratic president is black.
“Whenever they are attacked, they use minorities as human shields, so they can call their opponents racist,” he continued.
He suggested that Republicans begin fighting fire with fire.
Labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in 2011 as one of 10 people in America’s “Anti-Muslim Inner Circle,” Horowitz has compared Islamists to Nazis and claims that all Palestinian elected officials are terrorists. SPLC claims Horowitz has suggested slavery never would have occurred if blacks hadn’t been sold to white by other blacks.
