Several pickup trucks waving American and Confederate flags ended up at a black child's birthday party in Douglasville, Georgia, last Saturday. The incident was caught on two cell phone videos (below), but it's not clear why the trucks were there.
“One had a gun, saying he was gonna kill the [racial slur],” Melissa Alford, who hosted the party, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Then one of them said gimme the gun, I’ll shoot them [racial slur].”
Levi Bush, one of the pickup truck drivers, claimed that he got a flat tire, partygoers yelled at the trucks in his group and threw rocks.
“Basically about eight of us had to hold 15 to 20 of them back,” Bush stated.
However, he admitted it was possible that someone in his group may have made a racial remark.
“Officers on scene were given conflicting statements as to what led up to the confrontation,” the Douglasville Police Department said in an email to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In one of the videos, an unidentified woman yells at the trucks, “This is a child’s birthday party!" notes Talking Points Memo.
Alford has not stayed at her home since Saturday out of fear.
