Three children and two adults, including a grandfather and his grandson, were taken into custody in Colorado for breaking into unlocked cars on Monday.
Parker police said the break-ins occurred at the Stone Canyon Apartments and Challenger Park Townhomes on Monday night.
A resident called police when they noticed a group of people trying the door handles on cars.
The thieves allegedly only stole from vehicles that were unlocked, 9News reported.
"We tell people all the time please be alert, lock your cars, please take all valuables out of your car," Lt. Doreen Jokerst from the Park Police Department told 9NEWS. “Just know that these opportunities would not be there if those things had happened.”
