Stephanie Molina's wedding was set for May, but she now does not have a venue and is out $5,000 she put down as a deposit for Excalibur Event Center in Aurora.
"He didn't really give an explanation," Molina said, after manager David Mendez called her.
"He just said the place was closed down, and he would need three weeks before he could give me my money back. And I haven't heard from him since."
But other women haven't even received a call from the manager.
Aimee Vasquez put down $1,500 for her wedding reception, set to take place in August.
"I honestly don't even know where to start anymore," she said, nearly in tears.
She learned this Monday that the hall was closing down after her caterer called her with the news.
She has tried to contact the business through email and telephone but has not received any response.
"We did our part and for him to actually not go through with it," she said.
And there's people who aren't having weddings who have been burdened with the closure as well.
Monica Mena put down $2,500 for her daughter's quinceanera. She is also being ignored by the owner and manager of the hall.
"I'm stressed, sad and mad because the person doesn't answer the phone," Mena said.
"I still have some things to pay off for since this set me back, and I don't know how I'm going to pay for these things."
Phone numbers for the business have been removed from everything, including its Facebook, website and front doors.
Mendez, the manager, said he is broke.
"I don't know what to do right now because I'm broke, I'm totally broke. I wasn't expecting this problem at all but it's out of my hands," he said.
Mendez said the money he took from the women was used to restore the banquet hall, which is at times used on weekdays as a night club.
He promised he would return the deposits, but many of the women said they have not heard him say that to them.
On Thursday morning, the Facebook page was updated with a status:
"EXCALIBUR EVENT CENTER IT'S OFICIALLY CLOSED, DUE TO OWNERS DESITION! WE'RE SORRY FOR THE INCOVENIENCE! BUT IS NOT IN OUR HANDS!"
