Chris Lane's Alleged Killers Posted Racist Tweets, Recruited Other Teens To Join Crips

Teenagers James Edwards, Chancey Luna and Michael Jones were charged with the murder of Chris Lane on Wednesday. Lane, a baseball player at East Central University, was out for a jog when he was allegedly shot in the back by the teens. It was announced today that the shooters, ages 15-17, will all be tried as adults during their trial.

As the case continues to develop, new information on the shooters is pouring in. Today, it was discovered that alleged shooter James Edwards had posted several racist tweets about white people on his Twitter account.

On April 29, 2013, Edwards posted a tweet saying “90 percent of white people are nasty. #HATETHEM”

On July 13, two days after the Zimmerman verdict was announced, Edwards tweeted “Ayeee I knocced out 5 woods since Zimmerman court! :) lol sh*t imam keep sleepin sh*t! #ayeeee”

Two days before the shooting, Edwards made another post saying “With my ni**as when its time to start taken lives.”

Duncan County Police Chief Dan Ford was not aware of the tweets before today, but he said they will change little about the shooting from a legal standpoint.

“I don’t think there’d be any further charge,” he told The Daily Caller today. “I’m not discounting the stuff that’s on there, but they do that for shock and effect.”

It is also being reported that the alleged shooters were involved at some level with the Crips gang. James Johnson, the man who reported the teens to the police, said the boys had tried to recruit his son to join the gang in recently. On the night of the shooting, the teens were at Johnson’s property with guns trying to pressure his son into joining.

Edwards and Lane have been charged with first-degree murder and are being held without bond. Jones was charged with use of a vehicle while a weapon was discharged and as an accessory to first-degree murder after the fact. He is being held on $1 million bond.
