LOS ANGELES --- L.A. prosecutors on Thursday charged Chris Brown with
two felonies, including assault and making criminal threats. According to the complaint, prosecutors allege that Brown punched and choked his girlfriend, pop star Rihanna, leaving her bloody and bruised.
The charges, which include Brown's threat "to commit a crime which would result in death" carry a sentence of anywhere from probation to five years.
Brown and Rihanna have both been figures of much speculation since Brown's arrest after the 2009 Grammy Awards. He issued a statement saying he was "sorry and saddened" for what happened and that he was seeking help. Prosecutors have not said whether Rihanna would testify against Brown.
