Choose Gay Flag or U.S. Flag, Says National Organization for Marriage

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), which opposes gay marriage, recently sent a fundraising email to supporters that claimed Americans must choose between supporting gay rights or their country.

The email gave a choice of a LGBT rainbow flag or U.S. flag (below) and asked: “Which banner will you choose?" reports

“We’re a republic founded on the principles of religious liberty, freedom and democracy, endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights. We’re a nation where citizen rights come from God, not from government, and where the people are sovereign, not politicians or judges,” wrote NOM’s President Brian Brown in the email.

“But those principles are under siege, by the culture, by our federal government and, increasingly, by the US Supreme Court.”

"If we do not fight back against these governmental attacks on our fundamental right to act in the public square in support of the truth of marriage as God created it, then none of our cherished liberties and rights are safe," stated Brown.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has NOM on its list of anti-LGBT hate groups, but Brown denies that NOM is a hate group.
