Police arrested a New Jersey cheerleading coach and math teacher on June 27 for sending a male student inappropriate photos.
South Plainfield High School teacher and former student Mallory Christ, 29, allegedly sent two pictures of herself through social media in February, the Daily Mail reports.
She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and being held in jail without bail.
Christ had taught math to juniors and seniors at the school for two years and coached its cheerleading squad.
Another New Jersey teacher was accused of abusing two students in May, CBS New York reports.
A preschool teacher allegedly punished at least two children by locking them in a bathroom. The students were believed to be ages 3 and 4.
Parents were horrified to learn about the allegations.
“I was shaking, thinking, 'Could my daughter have been the one in there?'” parent Kristin Paladino said. “I can’t imagine.”
“You are not permitted as a teacher to punish my child by throwing them in a bathroom and closing the door and holding it shut or locking it until they calm down or comply,” she added.
An investigator from the New Jersey Department of Children and Families’ Institutional Abuse Investigative Unit reportedly informed Paladino and her husband of the incident.
“I understand that there are certain steps that need to be taken, but four weeks since this has occurred?” she said. "And they wait until four days after school lets out, when nobody is available to be contacted? Unacceptable on all levels."
