Supermodel Chrissy Teigen fell asleep during what were probably the strangest Academy Awards ceremonies in history.
Twice she was caught on camera dozing on husband John Legend's shoulder, reports the Daily Mail.
The first time was during the acceptance speech by Casey Affleck, who had just been anointed Best Actor for "Manchester By The Sea." As the camera panned to the movie's producer, Matt Damon, Teigen was seen in the background, sound asleep.
A few minutes later, as Best Actress nominees were being called, the camera zoomed in on Meryl Streep, who was nominated for a record twentieth time. However, over Streep's shoulder, viewers could clearly see Teigen, whose head was still planted firmly on her husband's shoulder as she snoozed.
Some excused her lack of interest on the fact that Legend had already done his bit, performing a medley from "La La Land," which was later given the Best Picture award only to have it taken away because the presenters, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, had been accidentally handed the wrong card.
Prior to the ceremony, Teigen told E! News that her husband was having a bit of anxiety about his scheduled performance, reports AOL.com. "He won't say it, but he's nervous," she said. "He's very nervous. There's a bit of piano medley happening tonight that he doesn't know if he can do."
As for her lethargy during the show, it might have been alcohol-induced. According to AOL.com, she was seen heading to the bar immediately after making her red carpet appearance earlier in the evening. The evidence was seen in an Instagram picture that she posted of herself at the bar, holding a glass of what seemed to be white wine or champagne.
In addition to her famous Sports Illustrated pictorials, Teigen has also appeared in television acting roles, including "The Mindy Project" and "Inside Amy Schumer."
