The Center for Marriage Policy recently claimed that the Sandy Hook school shooting was caused by divorce.
On Sunday, the Daily Mail published an article about a new book, Newtown: An American Tragedy, which reveals new details about Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza's life.
The book states that Lanza got more than 83,000 kills while playing video games, including 22,000 head shots, to train for the Sandy Hook shooting.
Lanza also created an indoor shooting range, after his mother Nancy Lanza told him he wasn't cut out to be a Marine. Nancy Lanza and Peter Lanza were divorced when Lanza went on his shooting spree.
The Lanza case emphasizes the tremendous importance of marriage. The vast majority of school violence is by children of divorce. In this case, the child was walled off from his father and raised by a doting mother who let him do anything he wanted, gave him lot of guns, and then went on a trip leaving him at home alone.
Late last month, The Center for Marriage Policy also posted a link to another story about 14-year-old Philip Chism, who is accused of sexually assaulting and killing his 24-year-old teacher Colleen Ritzer at Danvers High School in Danvers, Mass on Oct. 24.
Chism's parents were reportedly going through a difficult divorce and he was upset at Ritzer after she asked him to stay behind after class on the day of the killing, noted the Daily Mail.
The Center for Marriage Policy stated on Facebook:
Nearly all cases of serious violence by young men involve boys of contested divorces. The correlation is extremely high. Here is another one. It is time we end the institution of no-fault divorce. No-fault divorces are often unilateral, predatory, and for gratuitous adult purposes. The costs inflicted on children, society, and state budgets is compelling reason to get rid of no-fault divorce. Our Missouri legislation to be introduced next session is the answer.
The Center for Marriage Policy also blamed the attempted murder-suicide by Va. State Senator Creigh Deeds’ son on divorce. The group wrote on Facebook:
Another child of divorce went off the rails today. This time it cannot be ignored. Most divorces are entirely unnecessary and cause lots of problems for children.
The divorce rate in the US is second only to Sweden, which has actually seen a drop in violent crimes over recent years, while their divorce rate tops the world.
