A Stockton, California, teen was traumatized after a man attempted to kidnap her on her way to school.
According to reports, surveillance footage from a neighbor in the girl’s northern Stockton neighborhood showed the suspect driving away in a four-door sedan after attempting to kidnap the 17-year-old.
The footage also reportedly caught audible screams from the girl as she struggled to free herself from the attacker.
“Our victim did exactly what you are supposed to do, make a lot of noise and fight off your assailant,” Stockton public information officer Joe Silva said.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. as the girl made her way to school. The suspect reportedly grabbed the girl and attempted to push her into his car.
“I seen this girl get tackled on the ground,” witness Christian Barriga said, reported FOX40. “She managed to get away ... she was running[.] I was like do you need help? I said it three times, she was so scared, she just kept running.”
Neighbor Tammy La, whose cameras caught the suspect driving away, said the teen’s screams were so loud that they woke her son.
“It was bad,” La said. "And he thought it was a dream."
Police are currently searching for the suspect, who they described as either Hispanic or Asian, about 5’8” and 150 pounds. He was driving either a silver or gold four-door sedan.
