A Fresno, California, man stands accused of punching and choking his wife after she posted selfies on the social media site Instagram.
Julio Benitiez, 37, was allegedly so upset that his wife posted selfies of herself on Instagram that he began attacking and choking her, the Fresno Bee reported.
The beating occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
She was left with injuries to herlegs, eyes, arms and neck, police reported.
After the beating, his wife fled the couple’s home with two of their children, 5 and 7, leaving behind a 2-year-old.
Benitiez left the scene with their 2-year-old child.
The victim told officials that the Benitiez was under the influence of narcotics and possessed a weapon.
After a lengthy search that lasted several hours, Benitiez was found after family members assisted in convincing him to come home.
Officers discovered an air pistol in the couple’s house and also found that Benitiez was under the influence of the stimulant, Fresno Police Department Sgt. Ray Villalvazo stated.
Benitiez later admitted to police officials that he had threatened to kill his wife.
Police officials have since taken Benitiez into custody. The 2-year-old child was found unharmed.
