Bus Driver Has Shocking Realization About Child Passenger

A California bus driver rescued a young boy who was kidnapped by a stranger.

In June 2015, a 3-year-old boy was at the Milpitas Public Library with his mother when he was suddenly abducted. A search quickly began, with officers closing the library.

When bus driver Tim Watson heard the alert about a child abduction, he realized that there was a crying child on his bus that came on with a man just before. Watson thought the boy matched the description of the abducted child, so he concocted a plan to catch the kidnapper.

Watson decided to pull over and pretend that he was looking for a lost backpack.

"What I'm really trying to do is to get up without him knowing to look at the little boy," Watson told KGO at the time. "So sure enough, I see the plaid shorts and red shoes. That's what really stuck out in my mind."

Once he knew that the child and his kidnapper were on the bus, Watson radioed local police. Soon after, 23-year-old Alfonso David Edington attempted to exit the bus with the boy. Police, however, were waiting for him.

"So I open my door one slowly, giving them time to get prepped and ready to go," Watson said. "I open up door two, the gentleman walks out calm, cool, collected as can be and they take him down on the spot."

The boy was soon reunited with his parents at the police station. Watson said it was at that moment that the gravity of the situation began to sink in.

"And that's when my own kids came to mind and I just broke down," he said. "I couldn't hold myself down. I just had to go inside the bus and reflect."

The suspect reportedly had no connection to the boy’s family.

Watson’s heroic actions went viral, with many praising his quick thinking and ability to handle such a delicate, tense situation.

"Thank God , that Bus Driver is a Hero," one reader commented on Little Things. "Trust instincts, they are usually right."

“God bless you Tim I know his parents are very thankful," another wrote. "You have a good heart. Thanks for saving that child from the evil person who had him. It is good to know there are people like you still around."
